Columnar Pellet activated carbon Production Process

 

1. Raw Material Grinding

Firstly, the raw material coal is ground to a certain fineness (generally over 95% passing through 180 mesh);

Main Equipment: Swing-type grinding mill, also known as suspended roller-type grinding mill or Raymond mill, is the main equipment currently used for raw coal powder processing in production.

2. Mixing and Binding

Add a certain amount of binder (commonly used binders are coal pitch or tar) and water (when using catalytic activation method, a certain amount of catalyst is also added) and mix at a certain temperature for a certain period of time;


Main Equipment: Continuous kneading machine is a rectangular elliptical-bottomed stationary container, with two parallel stirring shafts inside the container, equipped with mixing blades. To prevent the material from hardening due to temperature drop and making operation difficult, steam jackets are installed on the container walls. To prevent dust from flying, a cover is equipped on top, with an addition hole and a viewing hole for checking the mixing condition of the material at any time. During production, the coal powder and coal tar are adjusted according to the required production ratio and flow into the continuous kneading machine. The material enters one end of the continuous kneading machine and is constantly turned, extruded, and pushed forward by the stirring blades on the two parallel shafts. When the material is flipped and extruded to the other end of the kneading machine, it is discharged from the lower discharge hole.

 

3. After the binder and water have fully soaking, penetrate, and evenly disperse with the coal powder, the mixture is extruded into carbon rods under a certain pressure using a cylindrical extrusion mold through the forming machine;

The single-cylinder vertical press is commonly used as forming equipment in activated carbon">Pellet activated carbon production. It has advantages such as reliable operation, uniform extrusion quality, and low maintenance requirements.


 

4. Drying

The formed carbon rods are dried in a drying room with ventilation for 12-24 hours.

5. Carbonization

After drying, the pressed material enters the rotary kiln from the kiln tail and is continuously discharged from the kiln head unloading device. At the same time, the activating gas mixture (steam and flue gas) enters the rotary kiln from the kiln head and is finally exhausted through the kiln tail into the chimney. After preliminary carbonization, the Pellet activated carbon already has a certain strength and adsorption capacity.

Main Equipment: Carbonization kiln, the factory uses a rotary kiln. The diameter size and kiln body length are selected according to the factory scale, and the production principle and process are basically the same.

6. Activation

The carbonized material from the carbonization kiln is to the top of the activation furnace with an electric hoist and placed in the feeding hopper. By gravity, the material slowly moves down through the preheating section, supplementary carbonization section, activation section, and cooling section, and is finally unloaded by the lower unloading device. In the preheating section, the material is preheated to remove moisture using the heat in the furnace; in the supplementary carbonization section, the material is indirectly heated by high-temperature activating gas, causing the temperature of the material to rise continuously and undergo supplementary carbonization. In the activation section, the product channel is perpendicular to the channel of the activating gas, allowing the material to come into direct contact with the horizontally flowing activating gas for activation. In the cooling section, the product's heat is dissipated through the furnace wall for natural cooling.

 

7. Sieving and Packaging

The activated material is sieved and packaged to become the finished columnar Pellet activated carbon product.

8. Delivery

According to the customer's requirements, arrange for the driver to enter the factory for loading.
